The County Fair in Delaware was recorded by the Columbia Phonograph Co. in 1928 for issue under a private label, DEL-MAR-VA SPECIAL RECORD. It was produced by Carl H. Monsees of Snow Hill, MD, who also published a small collection of Delaware and Maryland photographs.
Click to hear the record. It is quite scratchy. The music file is an MP3 file that can be heard on most computers or on an iPod.
The performer is Dale Wimbrow, best known for his 1934 inspirational poem "The Guy in the Glass." He was a vocalist, musician, band leader, and composer with a national audience. Other than the other song on this Web site, "The Good Old Eastern Shore," the only other Wimbrow song available on the Web is "Country Bred and Chicken Fed" from 1926.
