Delaware

delaware - phonograph record

This record titled "Delaware" is a bit of a mystery. The performers were well known before and after WW-1, but I find no record of the song in sheet music or otherwise. I can not even be sure whether the words refer to the state or a woman. I would appreciate any information.

This record is an old Edison "Diamond" record almost one-quarter inch thick. It plays at 80 rpm and uses a recording method different from that of the rest of the recording industry of that day. The only way to get acceptable sound from a modern player is to use a strereo cartridge with both outputs tied in parallel.

Mystery Solved

Thanks to Paul and Joyce Harris, the mystery is solved. The song is probably about the river, not the state. Here is the sheet music cover the scanned from their collection.
