This great piece of ragtime music was written in 1910 to commemorate Delaware citizen's presentation of silver service for the officers' mess of the battleship Delaware. If you have a sound card and have your browser configured to play or save MIDI sound files, click here to hear the music.

This battleship Delaware (there have been several) was launched in 1907. It sailed with the Great White Fleet and served in World War I. The ship was scrapped in 1924. It is shown above in Guantanamo Bay Cuba in 1920. Go to www.chinfo.navy.mil/navpalib/ships/battleships/delaware/bb28-del.html for full history.
There have been six vessels named Delaware in the U.S. Navy, starting with the frigate Delaware built in 1775 by the Continental Congress. Go to www.history.navy.mil/danfs/d3-list.htm for descriptions.
