Collecting Delaware Books
Ruthanna Hindes, a Delaware author, historian, researcher, arcivist, librarian, and active volunteer, died August 27, 2001 at the age of 84. Ruthanna worked for many organizations, including the Historical Society of Delaware, Hagley Museum and Library, and Longwood Library. In later years she was a volunteer in many organizations, doing everything from clerical work to serving on boards of directors. She was the author of three Delaware books, one on George Alfred Townsend and two on Delaware silversmiths. She was a fine scholar and a wonderful, spirited person.
The Wilmington News-Journal for August 30, 2001, carries an obituary on page B4 detailing her many accomplishments.
